India, May 31 -- Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Saturday said the future belongs to those economies that can attain growth while preserving the ecological balance, and noted that Goa has the potential to emerge as a national model for sustainable coastal development.

Speaking at the Goa Statehood Day celebration event in Panaji, he said Goa was well-placed to lead the country in the emerging blue economy sector.

Describing the coastal state as an inspiring model for the rapidly changing world, he said it has demonstrated that one can embrace modernity without losing cultural roots and while preserving local traditions.
