Fresh violence in Manipur hill districts leaves at least nine dead
India, Oct. 11 -- At least nine people were killed in fresh violence across Manipur's Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts, with gunfights, ambushes and arson reported in several locations.
The violence escalated in Kamjong district on Friday night after an exchange of fire involving security personnel and armed groups near Chassad village. A woman was killed in the incident, followed by further clashes and attacks on residential areas.
Several houses were reportedly set on fire in Kamjong, forcing residents to flee. Authorities stepped up security and imposed restrictions in affected areas to prevent further violence.
