Four-storey Delhi building evacuated after sudden tilt; MCD orders demolition
India, Sept. 13 -- A four-storey building in Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area was evacuated on Sunday after it suddenly developed a tilt, following which the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) directed its owner to demolish the structure, an official said.
The civic body has asked the owner to voluntarily carry out the demolition on Sunday, failing which the MCD will initiate necessary action under applicable provisions, the official said.
The building, located in Shahdara, was evacuated immediately after the tilt was noticed, triggering panic among residents in the area, officials said.
Police cordoned off the site and restricted movement around the structure as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident.
