India, May 14 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued an advisory on Wednesday asking its officers and staff to maximise the use of public transport and adopt carpooling arrangements in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for fuel conservation and sustainable practices.

The advisory, issued by the office of the additional commissioner, said the move aims to reduce vehicular pollution, traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and avoid unnecessary travel.

According to the advisory, all officers and officials have been advised to preferably use public transport systems such as the Metro, buses and other shared transport facilities for daily commuting.
