Dr Ashutosh Mukherjee: The pioneer of Bengal's intellectual awakening
India, June 29 -- Tiger." The world knows him as a great educationist and as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta, but his personality was multidimensional. Ashutosh Mukherjee was born on 29th June 1864 into the lineage of the great poet Krittivas Ojha, author of the Bengali Ramayana, to Dr. Gangaprasad Mukherjee. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of just 59. Even in his short life, the contributions he made in the fields of education, justice, mathematics, literature, and public life are inscribed in golden letters in the history of modern India.
