Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that the Union Government will soon launch a "high-powered demography mission." This mission, first declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, is central to a broader effort to secure India's borders and curb illegal infiltration.

Shah also outlined an upcoming 'smart border project' aimed at fortifying India's 6,000-km-long international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh using advanced technology to achieve complete impenetrability.
