Delhiites get an extended weekend
India, Sept. 4 -- Delhiites will have an extended weekend from September 11, thanks to the BRICS summit, with the Union and the State Government offices and establishments closed on Friday.
World leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, will start arriving that day for the two-day conclave starting September 12. Given the elaborate security umbrella for the important event, the decision to close offices was taken to ensure smooth traffic and logistical arrangements. The closure is also aimed at reducing inconvenience for the general public during the event.
