Delhi records hottest May day in 2 years
India, May 19 -- Delhi experienced its hottest day of the season and the highest May temperature in two years, with the Safdarjung weather station recording a maximum of 43.4degC on May 19, 2026. Several parts of the city came close to 44degC as intense heat conditions gripped the capital.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave is expected to persist through the week, with temperatures in parts of Delhi-NCR likely to touch 45degC. The Ridge station recorded 44.6degC, making it the hottest location in the capital, while Lodhi Road registered 43.8degC.
