Delhi HC orders daily health checks for Sonam Wangchuk during hunger strike
India, July 16 -- The Delhi High Court has directed the Centre and the Delhi government to ensure daily medical examinations of education reformer and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. Stressing that "the life of every citizen is precious," the court said his health must be monitored regularly and medical care should be provided whenever necessary.
The order came while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) expressing concern over Wangchuk's deteriorating health due to his prolonged fast.
