India, May 20 -- The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Centre and concerned regulatory authorities on a Public Interest Litigation alleging the illegal export of life-saving medicines.

The PIL claims that essential drugs meant for domestic use are being diverted and exported without proper compliance, raising concerns over possible shortages in the country.

The court has sought responses from the Centre and relevant agencies overseeing drug regulation and exports.

Authorities have been directed to clarify existing safeguards and address the allegations of lapses in enforcement.

The matter will be heard further after the receipt of official replies from the concerned bodies.
