India, May 7 -- The Delhi government has approved the construction of a new medical college and hostel complex in Dwarka at an estimated cost of Rs 805.99 crore, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Wednesday.

The project will come up at the Indira Gandhi Hospital campus in Dwarka and is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare and medical education infrastructure in the national capital.

According to officials, the proposal received clearance during a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee chaired by the chief minister. The medical college will be developed in phases and is targeted for completion by 2028.
