India, May 4 -- Fire-related emergencies in Delhi saw a sharp rise in April 2026, increasing by 73% compared to March, according to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) call summary. The capital recorded 2,663 fire calls in April alone, significantly higher than previous months, pushing the total to 6,693 fire incidents in the first 4 months of the year.

Officials attributed the surge to rising temperatures and an increase in garbage and dry waste fires across the city. April also recorded the highest number of rescue operations, with 261 lives saved during the month.
