Delhi DDA removes over 57,000 MT silt in mission mode ahead of monsoon
India, July 9 -- The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has removed over 57,000 metric tonnes (MT) of silt from stormwater drains as part of a mission-mode desilting drive aimed at strengthening the city's drainage system ahead of the monsoon season. The exercise marks a 70 per cent increase compared to the previous year's desilting work.
The DDA said the large-scale operation was undertaken to improve the carrying capacity of drains, ensure smoother rainwater flow and reduce the risk of waterlogging during heavy rainfall. The desilting work has been carried out across multiple zones, including East, South, North, Narela, Rohini and Dwarka.
