Delhi Congress slams purification ritual after Kharge rally
India, Aug. 19 -- The Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), led by president Devender Yadav, passed a resolution condemning what it called an insult to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The resolution was passed after Hindu activists reportedly performed a "purification" ritual at Ramlila Maidan in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following a rally he addressed there. The resolution, moved by Yadav and seconded by SC Department chairman Rajendra Pal Gautam, was unanimously approved. The meeting, held at Rajiv Bhawan, also discussed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the upcoming Delhi University Students' Union elections and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections.
