India, Oct. 1 -- The Congress on Thursday attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over the state's law and order situation, alleging that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has created a "one district, one mafia" model in the state.

The opposition party alleged that the nexus between criminals and those in power was particularly affecting Dalits, victims and other vulnerable sections.

AICC in-charge for Uttar Pradesh Rajendra Pal Gautam claimed the state witnesses an average of nine murders, 10 attempted murders, nine rapes, 33 kidnappings and around 235 violent crimes every day.
