Commercial flight operations begin at new Vizag airport
India, Aug. 17 -- Commercial flight operations commenced at the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram here on Monday, August 17, with the first flight operated by IndiGo arriving from Hyderabad. The operations commenced a fortnight after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the modern facility equipped with a number of features. The airport, developed and operated by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL), is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's position as the "Gateway of the East" for domestic and international travel.
