India, Aug. 30 -- A 50-year-old teacher at a government composite school in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district was arrested on Sunday, August 30, for allegedly molesting a Class 5 student, police said.

An FIR was registered against the teacher, Manoj Rai, on Sunday based on a complaint filed by the student's mother, police said.

The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, the incident took place on Thursday when the minor had gone to attend classes at the composite school in a village under the Sukhpara police station area.
