India, May 16 -- Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant issued a clarification over his recent remarks, saying a section of the media had misquoted his oral observations and wrongly projected them as criticism of the youth of the country.

Expressing disappointment over the reporting, the Chief Justice said he was referring specifically to people who entered professions using fake or bogus degrees.

"I am pained to read how a section of the media has misquoted my oral observations made during the hearing of a frivolous case yesterday," the CJI said in his clarification.
