CID reaches Abhishek Banerjee's residence in MLA signature forgery probe
India, May 30 -- A team of the West Bengal CID on Saturday visited the Kolkata residence of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged MLA signature forgery case. However, CID officials were unable to question him as staff at his residence informed them that he was not at home and they were unaware of his whereabouts.
The case revolves around allegations that signatures of several Trinamool Congress MLAs were forged on a letter submitted to the Assembly Secretariat in support of Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay for a position carrying Cabinet rank. The controversy gained traction after discrepancies were reportedly found in the signature of Nayna Banerjee.
