Chugh alleges forced cremation of Dalit man in Punjab, attacks AAP government
India, Sept. 10 -- BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh on Thursday alleged that Punjab Police forcibly conducted the last rites of a Dalit man from Sangrur who died by suicide, claiming the cremation was carried out against his family's wishes.
Chugh also accused the AAP government in Punjab of "injustice" against Dalits and questioned why state Finance Minister Harpal Cheema had not been sacked over the incident.
Gulzar Singh, 47, a Dalit man from Dirba in Sangrur district, died on Monday night after allegedly consuming poison.
According to his family, Singh had questioned Cheema about the supply of drugs in the area during an event in Dirba on September 6.
