India, Aug. 5 -- A committee set up to draft a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) framework for Chhattisgarh has sought suggestions and opinions from citizens, social groups, and political parties by October 15, officials said Tuesday.

Headed by Justice (retired) Ranjana Prakash Desai, the five-member panel is tasked with examining existing personal laws to bring all citizens under a common civil framework governing marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, adoption, and succession across the State, a Government release said.
