India, May 23 -- Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar visited Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand to review election preparedness and inspect polling infrastructure in areas located near the India-China border.

During the visit, the CEC travelled to the strategically important Harsil region to assess the readiness of polling stations situated in remote and high-altitude locations. The inspection focused on communication facilities, security arrangements, transportation access, and logistical support available for election personnel.

Officials said the visit is part of the Election Commission's efforts to strengthen electoral processes in difficult terrains and ensure smooth voting operations in border regions.
