India, July 18 -- Heavy police deployment was witnessed in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Saturday as authorities carried out a demolition drive at a party office linked to Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in Amtala. Bulldozers were brought in to raze the structure after the district administration alleged that it had been constructed without the required approvals and violated building regulations.

Officials said notices had been issued before the action, and the demolition was undertaken as part of an enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions.
