BRO successfully launches 170 feet Bailey bridge in Bihar
India, May 22 -- Vikramshila Setu, a vital 4.88 km-long bridge over the River Ganga connecting NH-33 (Old NH-80) and NH-31, serves as a lifeline for Bhagalpur and adjoining regions. Following the collapse of the 34-meter navigational span of the bridge, traffic movement was completely disrupted, severely affecting public mobility and the movement of essential services.
Realising the urgency of the situation, the Government of Bihar requested immediate assistance from the Ministry of Defence for the deployment of emergency bridging solutions to facilitate the movement of light vehicles and essential services.
