India, May 31 -- The BJP secured a major victory in Himachal Pradesh's municipal corporation elections, winning three of the four civic bodies where results were declared on Sunday.

The party retained control of Mandi Municipal Corporation and wrested Dharamshala and Solan from the Congress, while the ruling Congress managed to retain Palampur Municipal Corporation.

Polling for 63 seats across Mandi, Dharamshala, Solan, and Palampur was held on May 17.

The BJP won a total of 37 seats, while Congress secured 23 seats and Independents claimed three. In Mandi, BJP dominated with 12 seats, while it also won 11 seats each in Dharamshala and secured a majority in Solan.
