India, Sept. 1 -- BJP president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday, September 1, met Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov at the party headquarters, with the discussions focusing on the "long-standing and time-tested India-Russia relationships", officials said.

During the meeting, Nabin highlighted the strong personal understanding and trust between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying their regular interactions have helped maintain momentum in bilateral ties.

According to a BJP statement, Modi's meeting with Putin on Monday on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, also figured in the discussions.
