India, July 28 -- The opposition BJP and BRS on Monday welcomed the High Court order removing HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath from his post.

Congress Lok Sabha member Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, however, said HYDRAA has safeguarded public assets worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore.

Terming the court's verdict as a "slap in the face of the Congress government", state BJP president N Ramchander Rao demanded that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) be dismantled.

HYDRAA, in the guise of removing illegal constructions, has spread terror among the general public and farmers, he alleged.
