India, July 5 -- A Delhi court has sentenced Bihar BJP MLA Raju Kumar Singh to four years of simple imprisonment in connection with a 2018 celebratory firing incident that resulted in the death of a woman during a New Year's Eve party at his farmhouse in South Delhi's Fatehpur Beri. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.25 lakh, directing that the amount be paid as compensation to the victim's family.

The case dates back to the night of December 31, 2018, when Singh allegedly fired his licensed weapon into the air during the celebrations. A bullet struck 45-year-old doctor Archana Gupta, who later died from her injuries.
