Bengal Govt suspends 3 IPS officers over RG Kar rape murder case lapses
India, May 15 -- The West Bengal government has suspended 3 senior IPS officers over alleged lapses in the investigation of the RG Kar rape and murder case of 2024, officials said.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the state government will also initiate a departmental probe against former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and two other officers for alleged misconduct during the handling of the case.
The case pertains to a trainee doctor who was found dead in August 2024 inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata.
