India, July 9 -- Former England Test captain Ben Stokes has reignited debate with a cryptic two-word social media post - "Sack him" - as the International Cricket Council investigates the England and Wales Cricket Board over the release of footage from his retirement announcement.

The controversy centres on a video recorded inside England's dressing room before play on the fourth day of the Trent Bridge Test, in which Stokes informed teammates of his decision to retire from international cricket. The ECB later shared the footage on social media and with broadcasters while the match was still in progress.
