India, May 3 -- The newly elected women Members of Parliament (MPs) will take oath on Sunday, formally assuming their roles in the 13th Parliament from reserved seats.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, is scheduled to administer the oath at 9.00 pm at the Oath Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The information was confirmed on Saturday by Monir Hossain, Director of the Parliament Secretariat, statement read.
Earlier, on April 30, the Election Commission issued a gazette notification declaring 49 candidates elected unopposed to the reserved women's seats. Among the elected lawmakers, 36 are from the BNP-led alliance, 12 from the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance, and one is an independent candidate.
