India, July 20 -- Andy Burnham officially became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Monday, succeeding Keir Starmer after the latter stepped down following two years in office. Burnham, the former Mayor of Greater Manchester and newly elected Labour leader, was formally invited by King Charles III to form the next government, becoming Britain's seventh prime minister in a decade.
