On July 20, Andy Burnham became the United Kingdom's seventh prime minister in a decade after Keir Starmer resigned. The high turnover has rendered political change routine, even if the problems confronting households have become difficult to ignore.
Now the former mayor of Greater Manchester heads both the Labour Party and the government. His first message was blunt: ease pressure on households, restore public trust, stop Westminster politics running amok. That's a reasonable agenda, but it also raises the bar.
