India, May 14 -- In a major boost to rail connectivity and passenger convenience, a new Amrit Bharat Express service between Amritsar and New Jalpaiguri was flagged off on May 14.

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh formally flaged off the new train from Amritsar railway station at 12:45 pm, marking the beginning of the long-distance service aimed at improving connectivity between Punjab and eastern India.

Train No. 14664 will depart from Amritsar every Thursday at 12:45 pm and reach New Jalpaiguri after a journey of approximately 39 hours, while the return service will begin from New Jalpaiguri on May 16 and operate every Saturday.
