India, July 28 -- Air India Express on Tuesday, July 28, announced the waiver of cargo charges for transportation of relief materials to Assam in support of the ongoing humanitarian response to the floods that have ravaged the state, an official said.

The initiative aims to facilitate the movement of essential relief supplies by registered NGOs and recognised relief agencies working to support the flood-affected communities, the official stated. At least 68 people have been killed and over 5.24 lakh people continue to remain affected by the deluge this year in Assam.
