India, June 11 -- Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for an hour and a half on Wednesday. The closed-door discussion at 10 Janpath comes amid ongoing efforts by opposition parties to improve coordination and present a more cohesive front against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government.

According to sources familiar with the deliberations, the Trinamool Congress conveyed its desire for a robust and effective alliance within the INDIA grouping. The party is understood to have explicitly accepted Rahul Gandhi's leadership role in steering the Opposition bloc.
