India, May 31 -- Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for extending support after he was allegedly attacked by a mob during a visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal.

Banerjee said the opposition INDIA bloc remains united and will continue its political fight against the BJP despite recent challenges and violence.

In a message posted on social media, Banerjee expressed gratitude to Gandhi for personally reaching out following the incident.

He stressed that opposition parties would continue working together and described the alliance's unity as crucial in countering the BJP politically.
