India, May 29 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the dominant force in the Punjab civic body elections 2026, leading across multiple municipal corporations, councils, and nagar panchayats as counting continues across the state.

Early trends show Aam Aadmi Party securing a strong lead in several key urban regions, including Mohali, Ludhiana, Bathinda, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's constituency Dhuri, where the party registered a sweeping performance.

The Congress party remains a distant second, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are trailing in most regions. Independent candidates have also managed to secure a notable number of seats in several local bodies.
