India, March 22 -- Shruti Gupta Chandra has made a powerful return to Sridharani after fifteen years. Her latest solo show, Where Does the Mind Stop and the World Begin, ditches her familiar realism for a raw, untethered abstraction. Working with curator Ashwini Pai Bahadur, Chandra draws on four decades of Kathak dance to treat her canvases like a stage. You see this in the "desire paths," instinctive marks cutting across white space. Forms look like spinning figures caught in a blur, with scratched pigment revealing thin lines beneath. Including notes from art historian Lina Vincent, the exhibition stays on view through March 24.
