India, May 3 -- A nine-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead during a family function in Kasganj district after he refused to bring water for mixing alcohol, police said.

The shocking incident took place in Yakutganj village under Sahawar police station limits during a naming ceremony at the child's house. According to officials, family members, relatives, and villagers had gathered for the event when the accused, identified as Dhanesh Yadav, allegedly asked the boy to fetch water while he was consuming liquor.

When the child refused, the accused reportedly lost his temper and fired at him. The bullet struck the boy in the stomach, creating panic at the ceremony.
