India, June 15 -- A tragic accident in Maharashtra claimed the lives of eight pilgrims and left seven others injured after a vehicle carrying devotees fell into a well, officials said.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the vehicle, carrying a group of pilgrims, lost control and plunged into the well. Local residents, police personnel, and emergency responders immediately launched a rescue operation to pull out the victims.

Eight people died in the mishap, while seven others sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, where some are reported to be in critical condition.
