India, July 9 -- As many as 465 farmers committed suicide between January and June 2026 in the Marathwada region of central Maharashtra, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district reporting the highest cases at 109, an official report said on Wednesday.

In 2025, as many as 1,131 farmer suicide cases were registered with the administration in the region, which consists of eight districts.

In the current year, from January to June, Marathwada registered 465 farmer suicide cases, a report from the Divisional Commissioner office based in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar said. The highest number of farmer suicides were recorded in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district at 109, while the lowest was in Latur district (26), it said.
