India, May 14 -- 3 people were killed in a tragic road accident in Gujarat's Kutch district after a car plunged into an open excavation pit on the Dadhar-Sadhara road, raising serious concerns over alleged contractor negligence and lack of safety measures at the construction site.

According to reports, excavation work was underway for road renovation when the contractor allegedly failed to install mandatory safety precautions such as barricades, warning signboards, diversion markers or caution lights.

Due to the absence of any visible warning system, vehicles travelling during the evening hours were unable to identify the dug-up stretch of road, resulting in the fatal crash.
