India, July 7 -- 3 children were killed and 2 others seriously injured after a truck ran over a roadside drain cover that collapsed under its weight in Rajasthan's Jaipur this morning, police said.

According to officials, the five children were standing on the iron-covered roadside drain when the truck lost control, crashed through an iron railing and drove over the drain cover. The impact caused the cover to cave in, throwing the children into the drain.

Three children died on the spot, while the two injured were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is being monitored, police said.
