India, July 7 -- A rescue attempt turned tragic in Gujarat's Surat after two men were electrocuted while trying to save each other during heavy rainfall in the Rander area. The incident occurred after one of the victims reportedly came in contact with a live electric wire submerged in rainwater, triggering a fatal chain of events.

According to police, the first victim, identified as Salman Irshad Khalifa, suffered an electric shock after stepping into a waterlogged stretch. Seeing him collapse, another man rushed to help but was also electrocuted after coming into contact with the same live current. Both men died on the spot despite rescue efforts.
