India, Sept. 19 -- Two persons, including a 13-year-old boy, died and seven others were injured on Friday, after a truck ran over a group of people heading to the Son River for idol immersion in Bihar's Rohtas district, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Ajit Kumar (22) and Ashish Sharma, residents of Ramdihara village in Rohtas.

"According to locals, the accident occurred on National Highway-119 near Ramdihara village when they were going to immerse an idol of Lord Vishwakarma on Thursday night. The truck ran over them, killing two persons on the spot and injuring seven others," Amit Kumar, Station House Officer of Amjhor police station, told reporters.
