India, May 14 -- At least 2 people were killed and 15 others injured after a massive explosion triggered by a fire at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district, officials said.

The incident took place in Tonkkala village under Tonk Khurd tehsil, where an under-construction firecracker unit caught fire before a powerful blast occurred, leading to panic in the area.

Dewas Collector Rituraj Singh said that rescue and relief operations were launched immediately after the administration received information about the incident.
