India, May 23 -- A 10-year-old girl, who had gone out to buy groceries near her home in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district, was allegedly abducted and murdered, triggering outrage across the state.

Police said the girl had been missing since Thursday evening and her body was later found with injuries near Kannampalayam lake in the Sulur area on Friday. Two accused, identified as Karthik and Mohan Raj, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The incident sparked protests outside the Sulur police station, with the victim's family and relatives demanding justice and strict punishment for the accused.
