India, May 19 -- India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly responded to questions raised during a press interaction in Oslo, Norway, after concerns related to press freedom and human rights in India were brought up.

The exchange turned tense when Indian officials criticized reports by certain NGOs and argued that many global perceptions about India are based on incomplete understanding.

During the interaction, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George defended India's democratic structure and emphasized the country's scale and diversity.

He stated that many people fail to understand the complexity of India and instead rely on reports from organizations that, according to him, do not fully understand the country's realities.
