'Game of Thrones' heads to big screen with 'Aegon's Conquest', set for 2029 release
India, Sept. 30 -- The "Game of Thrones" franchise is making its big-screen debut with "Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest", a feature film set in the fictional world of Westeros that is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on June 6, 2029.
Owen Harris, who has directed episodes of HBO's "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", will helm the film from a screenplay by Beau Willimon, creator of political drama "House of Cards" and a writer on "Andor", Variety reported.
Details about the plot remain under wraps, but the film is expected to centre on Aegon I Targaryen, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty, and his conquest of Westeros centuries before the events of "Game of Thrones".
